Chloe Curran – Partner

Chloe practises in Family Law, Conveyancing (ACT & NSW) and Estate Planning. Prior to founding Hijazi Curran Cameron Lawyers, Chloe worked for a number of well-respected Canberra and regional law firms.

Growing up in rural NSW instilled Chloe with a down to earth attitude. She even continues to live on her own farm in the Yass Valley region. She has a diverse working background, including over 8 years experience in the Commonwealth public service.

Chloe practices in all aspects of family law including parenting and child support matters, divorce, property divisions involving married or defacto couples, spousal maintenance, family violence orders, adoption and surrogacy. She has acted for parties in complex financial and parenting cases and has significant experience in drafting complex agreements such as prenuptial agreements and binding child support agreements.

Chloe takes the time to understand and build a strong relationship with her clients. Her diverse background and client orientated approach enable Chloe to explain complicated legal matters in plain English, giving her clients the information they need to make the best decisions for their individual circumstances.

Chloe understands that with many family matters court should be the last option, and whilst she is a skilled litigator, Chloe appreciates that the best outcome for her clients is often being able to settle the dispute out of court. Chloe excels in negotiation, aiming for the best possible result in the quickest practical time frame.

Leah McGowan – Associate

Leah graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Canberra in 2015 and completed a Master of Legal Practice at the Australian National University in 2016.  She was admitted to the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory in 2016.

Having significant ties to the Snowy Mountains region, Leah started her career in Cooma where she gained experience in many areas of legal practice and has also spent time practising in civil litigation.  Ambitious and with an appetite to expand her knowledge, she returned to Canberra in 2017 and began practising exclusively in Family Law.

When asked what she enjoys most about working as a Family Lawyer, Leah said:

“Family Law can be very challenging, as you are often working with people at a really difficult time in their life.  I enjoy working with my clients to find as many solutions as we can to their post-separation family concerns as they arise, on a case-to-case basis, and thinking outside of the box. Ultimately, Family Law is about the needs of families and the dynamics and factors are often complex, therefore not every problem has an answer that can be found through a litigated solution.”

Leah practices in all areas of Family Law and is dedicated to achieving great results and creative solutions for her clients, both in and out of the Court room.

Leah is Wests Tigers most tried and true fan. Outside of work, you can find Leah in front of the footy, enjoying time with her friends and family, and during winter, hitting the slopes.
